A little bit about me
I’m Kat Tollefsen, the founder of Looma Partner, a Brisbane-based boutique recruitment service delivering personalised, high-impact hiring solutions across Australia.
Originally from Norway, I moved to Australia in 2015 to study a Bachelor of Business followed by a Master of Management at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Over the years, studying and working across continents gave me an appreciation for different cultures, perspectives, and ways of connecting with people, all of which shape how I approach recruitment today.
With experience as both an external and internal recruiter, I understand recruitment from every angle, from sourcing top talent to helping businesses attract, retain, and develop the right people. I work directly with each client as an embedded extension partner of your team, providing strategic insight, curated talent selection, and hands-on guidance throughout the recruitment process.
I’m a real people person, I love meaningful conversations, getting to know people’s stories, and genuinely supporting others. Recruitment isn’t just work for me, it’s a passion. I focus on aligning the right people with the right role, team, and culture, creating lasting impact for both businesses and candidates. My goal is to add real, sustainable value to your company’s team by ensuring every hire aligns with your culture, vision, and long-term objectives.
Why human-centric recruitment matters
In today’s hiring environment, many recruitment agencies and internal teams rely heavily on AI tools to screen, rank, or shortlist candidates. While AI technology can be helpful, it often removes the human connection that’s essential for truly understanding a person’s potential.
At Looma Partner, I take a different approach.
I don’t outsource judgement to algorithms. I personally engage with candidates throughout the recruitment process, because people are more than a list of keywords. When it matters most, I take the time to understand motivations, values, communication style, and soft skills, especially when finding someone who genuinely fits your team, culture, and long term vision.
While I use AI technology for efficiency, I never let it replace meaningful human interaction. Research consistently shows that hybrid recruitment, where tech supports (not replaces) human decision-making, leads to stronger hiring outcomes, better retention, and more successful teams.
My process keeps people at the centre. That means real conversations, thoughtful assessment, and a commitment to understanding the person behind the resume!
